Construction & Renovation: Sri Lanka

Construction & Renovation: Sri Lanka is a volunteer placement in Kandy, from $440 a week per person with a $350 deposit. You help restore temples, schools and community centres in and around the old kingdom — painting, repairing, rebuilding. Stays run 1-12 weeks and suit travellers aged 20-45, flying into Colombo. Start dates run from 30 August 2026.

Day 1

Welcome to your New Home

Hello Sri Lanka!!! Today, we'll be ushering you into your charming abode nestled in the lush countryside. Your coordinator, full of warmth, will greet you at the airport and guide you to your new dwelling. Greet your delightful roommates, and brace yourself for a culinary journey with scrumptious homemade Sri Lankan delicacies!

Day 2 - 6

Construction & Renovation

From restoring broken temples to the improving local parks and schools, your creativity will be challenged and developed in diverse surroundings. You may find yourself cleaning the surroundings of the project sites, painting murals and buildings and even creating artwork if local temples makes requests. Activities in schools can be expected too - creating vibrant posters and playgrounds to encourage children to come to school with enthusiasm and wonder.

We’ve equipped you with some language basics, and introduced you to the local cuisine…now let's see where that can get you! You’re free to organise any adventure you care to, or simply chill ahead of the volunteer work. We can offer advice on where to go if you need it.

We're passionate about dishing out tantalising Sri Lankan veggie and non-veggie delights, crafted from fresh, local produce. Allergies? We've got your back. Relish three delectable weekday meals, and two exquisite meals on weekends and public holidays. Get ready for a flavourful adventure, with every bite celebrating Sri Lanka's vibrant culinary culture!

How can I prepare mentally?

Our Culture week program covers most of the topics including culture shock and how to adapt to Culture and Traditions. One should come with an open mind. We suggest you to go through the program guide.

How old do I have to be?

We accept participants aged from 16 and above. Participants under the age of 18 must travel with a parent or legal guardian. There is no upper age limit however, we recommend participants to check with the program options that are available.

Do I need to be fit/in shape for my project?

We should always be healthy and maintain our fitness. However, it depends on the project you choose and you should always be ready to work.

What should I wear? Is there a dress code?

It depends on which project you have chosen. Some projects require formal dressing. Therefore, packing a few formal clothes won’t harm

What type of food can I expect?

We're all about serving up tasty veggie and non-veggie dishes, made with simple, fresh, and local ingredients. We've got your allergies covered, so no worries there. We've got you sorted with three yummy meals on weekdays, and two awesome meals on Saturdays, Sundays, and Public Holidays.

Where will I be staying?

During your time, you will be accommodated at our accommodation. All our accommodations are dormitory style, shared and gender based rooms. We also provide private rooms (Dormitory style) subject to availability which you can request for at an extra cost. Whichever room you will choose, we provide clean, tidy, secured and basic facilities.
