Program Description

Many travellers think of Bali as a place made for reflection, and a week in Lovina, a quiet stretch of black-sand beaches and fishing villages on the north coast, is a good way to find out why. This program is a week of learning and practising Balinese yoga and meditation, and it suits complete beginners as well as experienced practitioners.

Balinese yoga goes further than the physical exercises. Over the week you learn different paths of yoga, postures, breathing techniques and meditation, the art of focusing your mind and looking inwards, as ways of letting go of stress and anxiety. Your teachers are local experts in the healing side of yoga and meditation, and what you learn here is yours to take home and keep practising.

Each weekday starts with an early morning lesson, followed by fresh fruit and tea and then breakfast. The rest of the morning is yours to relax until lunch, and there is free time again before the afternoon session. On Friday the afternoon session makes way for a massage or spa treatment.

Evenings bring relaxed get-togethers with the other participants, and the weekends are free. Lovina's beaches, temples and markets are on the doorstep, and the local team will help you plan trips further afield.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Practise Balinese yoga in a morning and an afternoon lesson every weekday.
  • Learn different paths of yoga, postures and breathing techniques.
  • Learn to meditate: focusing your mind and quietening your thoughts.
  • Unwind with a massage or spa treatment on Friday afternoon.
  • Relax between lessons, and spend the weekends exploring north Bali.

Good to Know

  • Who can join. There is no minimum or maximum age, and no experience or qualification is needed. Under 18? You need signed parental consent, and we strongly advise coming with an adult. Over 65? We will ask for a medical clearance confirming you are fit for the program.
  • Fitness. The lessons are active and the days are full, so you need a decent level of physical and mental fitness.
  • Paperwork. On signing up we ask for a criminal record check (CRB/DBS).
  • Health. Get travel and medical insurance before you arrive. Recommended vaccinations often include hepatitis A and B, typhoid, tetanus, Japanese encephalitis and polio.
  • What to wear. Clothes you can move in easily for the lessons. Around Lovina, dress modestly: loose clothes that cover your shoulders and knees are respectful and keep you cooler, and are a must at temples.
  • The schedule can change. Weather and local conditions can move things around.

Aims & Objectives

  • Learn different paths of yoga, postures and breathing techniques.
  • Learn to meditate, and take a practice home with you.
  • Let go of stress, anxiety and physical tension.
