Absolutely. Your payment is secure. Backpacking Tours is a licensed tour operator in Thailand (TAT Licence No. 11/12642), and we use trusted international payment providers. Your booking is safe, and our team is here to support you every step of the way.
Once you’ve booked your flights, log in to the Manage My Booking area of our website and enter your flight arrival details. If you’re arriving early, we can still arrange your airport transfer. If you also need extra nights of accommodation, let us know early so we can confirm availability and pricing.
International flights are not included in the price of any tour and will need to be booked separately. You’re free to book your own flights or book here.
Yes! Travel insurance is a must for all our trips. You’ll need to show proof (on your phone or printed) to your group leader when you arrive.

Awesome! Once you’ve booked, just let us know who you’re travelling with and we’ll make sure you’re roomed together. Easy as that!
Can’t convince your mates? No worries! Most of our travellers come solo, and it’s one of the best ways to experience a new destination.
You’ll join an instant crew, meet amazing people, and make new friends from day one. Plus, you can keep your travel plans flexible and fully your own.
Ready to roll solo? You won’t be alone for long.
We highly recommend that you travel with insurance for complete peace of mind. Please click here.
Yep! Most of our accommodations have free Wi-Fi, so you’ll be able to stay connected.
Wi-Fi in Australia is generally solid, just don’t expect full bars when you’re off the grid or deep in the wild!
Backpack or suitcase? Totally up to you. But here’s the golden rule: pack light! We recommend keeping it under 20kg.
A few quick tips:
Keep it simple. You’ll thank yourself later!
We recommend grabbing a Wise travel card. It works almost everywhere, lets you withdraw cash at ATMs, and you can use it with Google or Apple Pay.
Top tip: Convert your money to AUD (or NZD) in advance to avoid foreign exchange fees.
If you’re planning to work in Australia or New Zealand, you’ll need one! When signing up, just choose to open an Aussie or Kiwi bank account, that way you’ll be all set to get paid.
Get your Wise card here.
For group tours, your place will be confirmed when 6 or more people have signed up and at least four weeks (28 days) prior to the start of your tour.
For volunteer or private bookings, please wait 2-3 working days.
We will refund you the total amount if the tour is cancelled. Typically, group tours are confirmed six months before departure.
Most travel is by public coach, including two overnight journeys—one to Byron Bay and another to Airlie Beach. This helps you cover long distances efficiently while keeping costs down.
You’ll stay in budget-friendly, well-located hostels, usually in multi-share rooms. These hostels are clean, social, and perfect for meeting other travellers.
This tour is designed for backpackers and social travellers who enjoy group adventures, shared experiences, and a flexible travel style. It’s ideal if you're looking for fun, value, and a mix of great destinations.
Honestly? Anytime’s a good time to go backpacking in Oz! Most of the country stays warm year-round, except for the southern regions during winter (June–August).
But no stress—Australia’s huge, and when it cools down in the south, everyone just heads north to chase the sun. Easy!
Yep! Do 88 days of seasonal work in regional Australia and you can apply for a 2nd year WHV. Use it anytime before you turn 31 (or 35 if you're from Canada, Ireland, the UK, France, Denmark, or Italy.).
Yep—everyone needs a visa to enter Australia. Most travellers join on a Working Holiday Visa or Visitor Visa, depending on your plans.

If your license isn’t in English, bring an international driving permit too.
A Working Holiday Visa lets you live and work in Australia for up to 12 months! You can work with one employer for up to 6 months—or 12 months if you're in two different spots. Got it approved? You’ve got a year to activate it. This visa is for legends aged 18–35.
We’ve got your big stuff covered—accommodation, transport, activities, and some meals are all included. So your spending money is just for the fun extras:
Tip: If you’re keen to pack in more adventure, bring extra cash for those epic add-ons.
We recommend landing on the first day of the tour—that’s when most people arrive. There’s no action until the evening, when we kick things off with a welcome dinner around 7pm.
Want to explore solo or chill before the fun begins? Feel free to arrive a day or two early!
If you’re joining us in Oz—good news! Your arrival transfer is included. Once you’ve booked your flights, just log into the Manage My Booking area and drop in your flight details.
Heading off after the tour? A return transfer isn’t included, but your group leader’s got your back—they can help you sort onward travel and anything else you need.
Best bet? Arrive on the start date. That’s when most of the group lands, and we all meet up for a welcome dinner around 7PM. There’s nothing scheduled during the day, so you’ve got time to settle in.
Want to explore solo or ease into the vibe? Feel free to arrive a day or two early—totally up to you.
