Do You Need a Visa?

First things first, do you actually need a visa to enter Fiji? If you're a citizen of over 100 countries including Australia, New Zealand, the European Union, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, South Africa, India, Japan, the Philippines, and China, you do not need a visa for stays up to 4 months. Your passport, however, must be valid for at least six months past your date of departure from Fiji and have one blank page. If you're carrying currency over FJD$10,000 ($4,700), you must declare it on entry and exit. You'll also need to show proof of an outbound ticket and proof of sufficient funds to cover your stay in Fiji

Visitor Visas and Requirements

If you're not from a visa-exempt country, you can apply for one of two types of visitor entry visas: a Single Entry Visa or a Multiple Entry Visa. Both can be applied for at the Fijian Immigration Department offices in Fiji or any Fiji high commission or embassy abroad.

The Single Entry Visa allows for a single entry into Fiji for stays up to three months and costs FJD$91 ($42). On the other hand, the Multiple Entry Visa is valid for up to 12 months and costs FJD$180 ($85). This visa allows for multiple entries into Fiji, but each stay must be shorter than four months.

When submitting your visa application, be prepared to provide a certified copy of your passport, two passport photos, hotel booking confirmation, a copy of your travel itinerary, proof of funds for the duration of your stay, proof of an onward ticket, and potentially a letter of consent from a parent, spouse, or employer.

Extending Your Stay

If you're already in Fiji and wish to extend your stay, you can apply for a visa extension at the Department of Immigration offices found throughout Fiji. Most extensions are granted for an additional two months, allowing for stays of up to six months total, though you may be able to stay longer depending on your circumstance. The visa extension costs FJD$91 ($42), and you must show proof of an onward ticket and proof of funds to support your full stay.

Always remember to check the Fiji Department of Immigration website for the latest information and updates on visa requirements. This ensures that you have the most up-to-date and accurate information at your disposal, which is essential for planning a stress-free trip to Fiji.
