Planning a trip to Mexico and not sure if you need a visa? Here’s what you need to know before you go. Entry rules depend on your nationality, but for many travellers, it’s easy and visa-free.
Visa-Free Entry for Many Nationalities
If you’re from the UK, USA, Canada, EU, Australia, or New Zealand, you can enter Mexico as a tourist without a visa for up to 180 days. Just make sure your passport is valid for the duration of your stay.
What You’ll Need on Arrival
- Valid passport
- Proof of onward travel (e.g. return flight or bus ticket)
- Details of your accommodation (printout or booking confirmation)
Other Entry Notes
You may be asked a few simple questions at immigration about your plans and how long you're staying. Keep your cool, answer clearly, and you're good to go.
Staying Longer?
If you want to stay more than 180 days or plan to work or study, you’ll need to apply for a visa through a Mexican consulate before arriving.
