Do you need a visa?

Visa-free entry (Schengen rules apply):

Eligible countries: USA, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and many others

  • Stay: Up to 90 days within any 180-day period
  • No visa required for tourism
  • Passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your departure date
  • At least 2 blank pages in your passport

Greece is part of the Schengen Area: Your time in Greece counts toward your total 90-day Schengen allowance across 27 European countries.

Entry requirements

  • Valid passport (at least 3 months validity beyond departure)
  • Proof of onward travel (return flight or ferry ticket)
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel bookings or tour confirmation)
  • Sufficient funds for your stay
  • Travel insurance recommended (€30,000 minimum medical coverage)

Need a Schengen visa?

If your country is not on the visa-free list, you'll need to apply for a Schengen tourist visa before traveling to Greece.

How to apply:

  • Apply at the Greek embassy or consulate in your country
  • Required documents: Passport, application form, photos, travel itinerary, accommodation proof, travel insurance, financial proof
  • Visa fee: Approximately €80 for adults, €40 for children 6–12
  • Processing time: 15 calendar days (can extend to 30–60 days)
  • Apply at least 15 days before travel, but no more than 6 months in advance

Island hopping

Once you're in Greece, you can freely travel between the mainland and Greek islands (Santorini, Mykonos, Crete, Rhodes, etc.) without additional visas or border checks.

Extending your stay

If you want to stay longer than 90 days, you'll need to apply for a long-stay visa or residence permit through Greek immigration before your Schengen period expires.
