Do I need a visa for Egypt?

Visa on Arrival & e-Visa Eligible Countries:

Eligible countries: USA, Canada, UK, EU countries, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and many others.

  • Visa on Arrival: Available at major Egyptian airports for $25 USD (cash only, exact change recommended).
  • e-Visa: Can be applied for online via the official portal at least 7 days before departure ($25 USD).
  • Stay: Valid for up to 30 days (Single Entry).
  • Passport validity: Must be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date.
  • At least 1 blank page in your passport.

Entry requirements

  • Valid passport (at least 6 months validity from arrival date)
  • Printed e-Visa confirmation (if applied online) or $25 USD cash for Visa on Arrival
  • Proof of onward travel (return or outbound flight ticket)
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel bookings or tour confirmation)
  • Yellow Fever vaccination certificate (only required if arriving from an infected area)

Need to apply in advance?

If your country is not on the Visa on Arrival or e-Visa eligible list, you must apply for a tourist visa through the nearest Egyptian Embassy or Consulate before traveling.

How to apply:

  • Apply at the Egyptian embassy in your home country.
  • Required documents: Passport, completed application form, passport-sized photos, travel itinerary, hotel bookings, and financial proof.
  • Processing time: Usually takes 2–3 weeks depending on the embassy.

Traveling within Egypt

Once you enter Egypt, your tourist visa allows you to travel freely between Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, Hurghada, and other regions without additional domestic permits, except for specific military or deep desert zones where specialized tour operators handle the permits.
